Oceanis Advisory Group, LLC is comprised of a cohesive group of innovative professionals with diverse experience in scientific, technical, business and financial disciplines.  We are dedicated individuals whose attitude, business philosophy and work ethic are concomitant to the industry and cultures served.

William Kerr

Mr. Kerr ~ Senior Managing Director, has comprehensive and varied financial and business management experience ~ both domestically and internationally.  He has been involved in the various phases of business development: conceptual through start-up; early and development stage; and the expansion and enhancement of mature business entities. Mr. Kerr has had significant involvement in investment banking and in the general securities market where he held a General Securities Principal’s license and other professional designations.  He has a broad background in the intricacies associated with the financial structuring of large scale international projects; venture capital opportunities; as well as entrepreneurial related projects ~ both as a principal and as an advisor.  Mr. Kerr has a storied family history in the energy sector, specifically regarding the exploration, development and production of oil, gas, coal, nuclear and other natural energy resources.  He has been associated with many aspects of the energy industry and lends his investment and financial expertise to strategic capital positioning in the overall oil and gas marketplace.  Mr. Kerr attended Oklahoma City University and The University of Arkansas where his studies were focused on business and finance.


Calvin “Jim” Turner

Mr. Turner ~ Senior Managing Director,  has broad based experience in the oil and gas arena, principally in the area of his land title and brokerage services (Turner Oil & Gas Properties, Inc.) with first and second tier industry clients (Exxon Mobil, Chesapeake Energy, BP, Marathon Oil, Devon Energy, etc.).  His land title and brokerage business currently has approximately 225 petroleum landmen working for several of his clients. He has been actively involved, and participated in the various phases of exploration and development of energy related natural resources with sphere-of-influence partners in the industry.  Mr. Turner was directly involved and significantly responsible for developing and nurturing the relationships that resulted in Carl Icahn’s company, National Energy Group, acquiring the principal resource assets of the Longfellow Ranch prospect in 2003 for a total capital outlay of approximately $150MM.  This investment was sold to form SandRidge Energy in late 2006 for around $3 billion dollars which is now a New York Stock Exchange traded company.  He has participated in all facets of various energy sector enterprises and the complexities associated with ongoing business development strategies.

 

Jeff Sibley

Mr. Sibley ~ Managing Director ~ Operations, is a focused and quality-oriented executive with over 24 years of experience in operations and finance.  He directs global accounting and finance operations including project management functions, operational and financial design, cash flow modeling, and due diligence work.  He has frequently been tapped as a turnaround specialist and business development strategist who has a methodical, tactical approach that drives profitability and maximizes operating efficiencies.  Direct and “hands-on” management style with a keen focus on building and leading teams of professionals who work together synergistically with high standards to achieve superior results.  Mr. Sibley most recently worked for Northern Leasing Systems, responsible for the financial management aspects of Northern Leasing’s operations including strategic business planning, accounting, and budgeting efforts of the company.  Prior to NLSI he was the Vice President of Operations for CONEXIS beginning in 2001 to 2007.  From 1995 to 2001, Mr. Sibley was the Vice President of Finance for Themis Capital Corporation and Cash Management Operations and Treasury Manager for Auto One Acceptance Corporation.  He received his B.A. in Finance from the University of Oklahoma in 1987.

 

Kent McPherson

Mr. McPherson ~ Managing Director ~ Technology Solutions,  is principally charged with oversight and due diligence regarding Oceanis’ technology group – across various, yet essential spectrums. He is an innovator and free-thinking visionary, and has provided companies of varied disciplines with a high level of guidance and business strategy solutions including technology infrastructure, workplace ergonomics, growth strategy and ROI maximization. The short list of his clients include: Delta Faucet, Johnson Controls, Chesapeake Energy, Active Care Clinics, Theraid Manufacturing, Ventura Refining & Transmission, and Stonehouse Marketing. Mr. McPherson has also worked closely with The Volta Collaborative in cooperation with engineers, artists, inventors and teachers from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) on a variety of solutions for industry and communities.

 

Alvis Chin

Ms. Chin ~ Managing Director ~ Asia, operates from Oceanis’ Los Angeles and Hong Kong offices, with significant experience as an international executive with responsibilities for a multi-national company with affiliated offices in China, S.E. Asia, Europe and the United States.  She was an executive with Citi Private Bank managing high net worth clients and was responsible for building a global investment management operation and consultancy group and grew the private client base for the global bank in different capacities. Recently, her primary skills have included developing joint venture funding platforms and capabilities, strategic business analysis and evaluation, sourcing as well as negotiating equity and bond financing.  Ms. Chin has exemplary leadership qualities as a communicator and who is adept at advising, launching and negotiating complex cross-border funding initiatives.  She is a “bottom-line” professional with an extensive track record of innovative financial solutions and strategies, client acquisition and management. She has facilitated and organized joint-venture liaison between European multi-national company and a recently privatized Chinese enterprise. She oversaw, devised and executed a plan for the Chinese company to reposition assets for debt restructure and increased bank facilities. Developed and structured regional offices for Chinese companies in Hong Kong to facilitate medium and long-term trade/manufacturing financing. Ms. Chin’s educational background includes a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Whittier College School of Law, an M.A., P.P.S. Credential in Counseling Psychology, from UCLA, and completed courses for Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) at UCLA, with her B.A. in Psychology, Mills College.

Xavier Peniche Bustamante

Mr. Bustamante ~ Managing Director ~ Latin America, age 50, operates from Oceanis’ affiliate offices in San Diego and Tijuana, and is spearheading efforts to access the oilfield services and E&P opportunities in Mexico and Belize. Mr. Bustamante is a bilingual executive management professional with over 20 years of experience in the hospitality, commercial, industrial and residential real estate management, retail and business development sectors.  His experience includes the Plaza Agua Caliente S.A. de C.V., in Tijuana, B.C. as a family-owned enterprise involved in the hospitality sector (luxury hotel – Grand Hotel in Tijuana, Mexico) and management of large scale commercial real estate development projects. Mr. Bustamante was in management at INET de Mexico which was awarded distribution of telecommunication products for Mexico.  He was in charge of opening new territories and opening new markets, particularly in the industrial sector and Maquiladoras.  Mr. Bustamante has a strong and varied background in operations, sales and marketing who is a recognized leader in the Mexico and U.S. Baja border region with a successful track record of developing and growing operations, penetrating new markets and maximizing profit.  He is an accomplished mentor with success in developing high performing work groups. Mr. Bustamante is considered by his peers as a dynamic “think out of the box” executive and someone who empowers others to surpass their own expectations.  Fully bi-cultural and is fluent in both English and Spanish. He attended Menlo College, in Menlo Park, CA and received a Business Administration degree fromSan Diego State University.
